Beauty Shops & Barber Shops
Although the total number of hair cutting establishments has remained fairly constant, barber shops have declined 21% since 1990, while "beauty shops" have increased 9% during the same period. The reason is that "beauty shops," defined as shops that offer permanent waves, hair styling and coloring, are now often unisex, attracting both male and female customers.
